What stays on your phone
Your name, your age and your answers, your results, your dreams, your shadow work entries, your daily lines and what the dream reader has learned from you are stored on this phone and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud, which we cannot read. There is no account. When a test is finished, four values and the app's language go to our server with nothing that points at you: your age group, what is on your mind, your leading voice and your shadow voice. They are counted so that the app can say how many people like you lead with the same voice. After your fifth answer the app asks the server for that count once, with your age group, what is on your mind and the voice that leads so far. The server answers with a number and stores nothing from the question.
What the app does not do
No tracking and no advertising inside the app. The app goes online for purchases, for the count described above and, once after it is installed, to learn whether an Apple search ad brought it (see Apple search ads). Readings by our server and sharing what the dream reader learns go online only when you switch them on. Everything else works without an internet connection.
Voice
When you speak a dream, the microphone is used only while you speak. The words are turned into text on the phone. The recording is not kept.
Purchases
Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. We do not receive your payment details. The app only learns from Apple whether a purchase is active. Codes are redeemed through Apple.
Apple search ads
We may advertise Inner Council in App Store search with Apple Ads. Once after it is installed, the app asks Apple's AdServices framework on the phone for a token and sends it to our server in Finland. Our server asks Apple whether a search ad led to the install. Apple answers with the ids of the campaign, the ad group and the keyword, and the country; our server keeps only a count of these with the day. If a free trial or a first payment follows, the app sends those ids once more with the kind of event, and the server counts it. No install id, no name and no advertising identifier travel with these calls, and nothing links the counts to you. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing which of our ads work (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Mirror
A Mirror code is made only when you ask for it. It holds your first name, your twelve scores, the kind of relationship you chose and whether you are subscribed. You decide who receives it. Whoever has the code can read these values.
Reminders
Reminders are set on the phone itself. Nothing is sent to a server.
Backups
If you back up your phone with Apple, the data of this app is part of that backup, under Apple's terms.
Written readings by AI
Before your first dream the app asks you once whether a written reading may come from our server. If you say no, you get the reading from the dream library alone. If you agree, the dream, your two answers about it, your three leading voices, your shadow and a few facts about your last five dreams (when, the symbols found, the voice, the feeling and the first sentence) are sent to our server in Finland (Hetzner, Helsinki), which passes them to Claude by Anthropic in the USA to write the reading. Anthropic deletes them within 30 days unless its usage policy or the law requires longer. No name goes with it. A random id of this install goes with it, so that readings can be limited per day. Our server keeps that id, the date, the model used and token counts, and for each install the app's language and the first and last day it was used, never the dream or the reading. The dream rewind works the same way: when you open its last page, the same short facts about your dreams of the last thirty days are sent once. You can switch this off in the settings.
Shared learning
If you switch on Help the dream reader learn, each confirmed dream sends the ids of the symbols found and the voice you chose, with the random id of this install and the day. The server keeps them to count which symbols go with which voice. The dream text is never sent for this. Switching sharing off, or Delete everything in the settings, asks the server to delete everything it holds under this install id.
Your rights
You can export everything and delete everything in the settings. Under the GDPR you also have the right to information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and the right to complain to a supervisory authority. Write to hello@innercouncil.app.
